It is in the transmission
of data in context that real information is created.
Transmission can
take many forms
As scientists complete
various stages of their research, they usually write up their
findings for scholarly journals.
The group, or someone
in the group, might publish a book, or write a chapter
for a book. The book could be published in hard cover, or it might
be an electronic book.
Members of the group
might be interviewed for a story in a local newspaper,
or by a reporter for a local radio or television program.
Someone making a documentary
video could film them in the midst of field work.
The scientists could
make a presentation at the annual meeting of a professional
group, e.g., the Entomological Society of America.
And, of course, the
research group could describe its work, and post its findings
on a Web site.
