How to Create a Simple Presentation in PowerPoint
- Click on Start and bring up Microsoft PowerPoint.
- Click on Blank Presentation. PowerPoint builds a presentation
one slide at a time. You first determine the layouts for your
slides.
- The layouts for slides are presented as AutoLayout options.
For this practice session, select the second one in the top row
(heading, with Bulleted List below)
- Click where it says Click to add Title and insert some words
-- for practice, you could just use your name in the heading
- Practice adding text.
- Practice inserting images. Grab an image off the Web (e.g., go to
http://www.ditto.com, select an image, and then save it to
the Desktop). To insert images, you click on Insert on the
Task Bar at the top of the screen, then go to Picture/From File
and select the image.
- To work on a new slide, go to Insert/New Slide and
decide on the autolayout to use. Then create your slide.
- Save your file frequently with .ppt as the extension.
- To view as a slide show, go to View/Slide Show. To go from
one slide to another, hit Enter. To end your slide show, click
in the lower lefthand icon shaped like a diamond and select End
Show.
PowerPoint is a fun and versatile presentation tool. You can learn
a great deal on your own by just experimenting. PowerPoint
