Vlada Volkova-Moran, Piano Lessons, Santa Cruz, CA
Vlada was born in Kamensk-Uralski, east of the Ural Mountains in Russia.
She received degrees in piano instruction and accompaniment from Tula Musical
College and her masters degree in music education from Moscow Pedagogical
University. During that time, she was principal accompanist for Stellar, the
premiere children's choir in Moscow. She began studying organ at the Moscow
Tchaikovsky Conservatory, where she received her degree with highest honors.
She is the principal accompanist for the Cabrillo Youth Chorus
and has also accompanied Cabrillo Chorale and Ensemble Monterey. She is
a noted organist and often performs locally. She lives in Santa Cruz.
A section leader is designated for each of the four sections in chorus. Section leaders help Cheryl by tracking attendance, conducting sectionals, helping people with musical problems, letting Cheryl know about absences and problems within their sections, and generally providing support to the singers in their sections. If you must miss a rehearsal or must be late, you must contact your section leader (preferably beforehand). Don't miss rehearsal unless it is absolutely necessary! Section leaders are also called (with GREAT AFFECTION) by the nickname of Meanies, and it is an old tradition for members of the chorus to hiss and boo whenever a Meanie is mentioned.
