Auditioning singers should prepare a solo and bring a copy of
the music for the piano accompanist. Auditionees will be asked to
demonstrate their musicianship, their proficiency in various languages, and
their ability to sight-read music.

Auditions

The Cabrillo Symphonic Chorus, under the direction of Cheryl Anderson, will
hold auditions for singers for the Spring 2012 semester from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.
on Tuesday, February 4, 2012, in the Choir Room, on corner of Soquel Drive and Cabrillo College Drive; ocean side of Soquel., on the Cabrillo College campus.

The auditions will be closed this year.  If you are new and have not yet auditioned or if you are returning after an absence from the group, you will need to do this audition.  Here’s what you will be asked to do:

Please see the added attachment for more specific criteria.  If you have already signed up for Symphonic Chorus and do not meet the requirements after the audition, you will be notified and can then drop the class.  Please remember that Beethoven’s 9th Symphony is very popular, we will probably hear many auditions, and there are limited spaces in the ensemble based upon ability and balance.  I wish you all the best and look forward to hearing the auditions.  I will be joined in the auditions by our panel of Section Leaders and our Accompanist, 5 very nice and kind people who have been hearing auditions for many years.

The Cabrillo Symphonic Chorus, a select vocal chorus of approximately 120
singers, rehearses once a week on Tuesday evenings from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. in
Room 450 at Cabrillo College to prepare for its annual Music for the Feast
of Christmas Concerts, performed the first weekend of December (three
performances) at Holy Cross Church in Santa Cruz.
